Capture Economics
Capture costs represent approximately 80% of an overall carbon capture and storage project. The capture price is highly variable and can range from $60 to $200 per tonne depending on several key factors. The main cost drivers for CO2 capture are the type of plant that the capture technology is being applied to and the type of capture technology that is chosen. Different plants and technologies have different costs and different efficiency penalties caused by increased energy use. The chart below shows an overview of the cost ranges for different capture technologies.
